  Hi, i’m trying to figure out how to get the portfolio template page to show
  the portfolio items in random order instead of by date or what ever way they are generated currently.

  i’ve scanned around the theme code trying to find it but have lost hope. Is there a function I can add or even better where can i edit this? thanks.

  unfortunetly I have replaced the code with what is given in my child theme and it is not working.

  Seems such changes won’t working from the child theme, you need to make changes in the file of parent theme.

  Ok, so I have attempted to make the change in the parent folder, and as soon as I add that function I get an error and the page won’t load, I take out the code and the page comes back.

  Wow thats great, so was there anything in particular I was doing wrong as to why it wasn’t working when i tried it, because I did that in change in that particular theme folder but like I said I kept getting an error and it crashed the website?
