Thanks for your feedback.
We tried the solution you proposed using the custom builder. Unfortunately it only really works for simple products.
In a variable product, the add to cart contains not only the “Add to cart” button but also the size and color selectors above. Therefore when you place the add to cart and whishlist in a connection block as you proposed, it actually tries to put the entire cart form (size, color, add to cart button) next to the whishlist and it just messes up the view.
