Built-in variation swatches work only for the global attributes https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/#section-6 Unfortunately, they do not work for the custom attributes http://prntscr.com/ul4ugw (no matter if you create such attribute using WCFM Dashboard https://tinyurl.com/y24p9fe3 or the default WooCommerce dashboard http://prntscr.com/ul4ugw ) If you want to get swatches for the custom attributes then you need to look for the variation swatches plugin that supports custom attributes and use them.
